Police Car Kills Chinese Student

A student has died after being hit by an unmarked West Midlands Police car in Birmingham.

Chinese student Xuanwei Zhang, 24 years old, was thrown 50ft and left with serious back and head injuries after he was hit by a black BMW as he stepped out at a pedestrian crossing outside Newtown shopping centre at about 19:00 BST on Wednesday.

He was taken to hospital with severe head and back injuries, but died early on Thursday afternoon.
The car had been responding to reports of a stolen vehicle but the force said it had not been involved in a pursuit.

Police said the family of the dead man, who has not yet been identified, had been informed and his parents were flying to the UK.

He had been studying for an MSc in Computing data networks and security at Birmingham City University and was living with friends in the Newtown area of the city.

A policeman kills a young Chinese man by driving over him. In an unmarked car...what I find most troubling are the subsequent quotes from the police

"The car had been responding to reports of a stolen vehicle but the force said it had not been involved in a pursuit."

"The unmarked black BMW police car was being driven by a uniformed police officer who had received the necessary training to drive police vehicles safely at speed on public roads, a force spokesperson said."

Why feel the need to say the uniformed police officer had received training to drive cars on public roads?? Isn't that necessary for EVERYONE who is allowed to drive???

"It is believed they had been in use at the time of the crash." - so, not certain then.

Of course, I await the protests and riots like those that occured when Mark Duggan was killed, or when the black man in America was shot for walking in his own neighbourhood. Or how about those candlelit vigils when the Indian was killed in Manchester a few months ago, followed by the Christian Churches holding services for the family and community.

Oh wait no, we're Chinese so none of that will happen.

It's obvious the media protecting the policeman's right to do what the f-ck it wants even if it means hitting someone at a high speed.

      Stolen vehicle my arse.

'We're Chinese so none of that will happen' - and will continue to not happen unless British Chinese cares more for its own cultural identity other than just being a passive analogy for Chinese groceries and takeaway meals.

  2. It also says here on http://uk.news.yahoo.com/student-dies-police-crash-195429512.html

The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission and the officer at the wheel of the police car has been suspended from driving police vehicles.

The West Midlands Police spokesman said the driver "remains active as a police officer" and stressed they had received the training required to drive police vehicles at speed on public roads. the driver.

Let me get this right, he's killed someone and he still remains active as a police officer?

    1. At least he hasn't been promoted, like the police investigator who fucked up Simon San's case.

I would be monitoring private facebook messages if possible, no doubt he'd be pleased on doing his bit to kill off nonwhites

    2. Oh and check out the comments, even in death they abuse and use racial slurs.

Is there no humanity to these whites?

    3. minority of comments making jokes about Chinese takeaways, majority of comments show empathy. Which I have to say is a better reaction than the complete apathy shown by the BBCs towards this incident.

    4. @BBCzeitgeist. exactly. This article was posted on BBC facebook yesterday - another ethnic Chinese in Britain - this time murdered by a pig.

Never mind solidary amongst Chinese, BBCS just cold shoulder when it comes to FOB Chinese.Even dead ones. Theyd rather yak about cake recipes and clubbing. Talk about Chinese being selfish and inhumane, this is it right here.

Even us who are dare to converse about it on here and say 'what a shame' are united against this. And if there were more of us united, we'd even speak out vocally and visibly like in the other fucking racist/murdered/racist murder incidents against ethnic Chinese in this year alone.

This is the true face of British Chinese society.

  3. I dispair at the lack of response of the ethnic Chinese in Britain, both born here and foreign. When the black was murdered by the police in London, blacks got angry about it - and rightly so - how dare they kill one of our people and not get punished for it? Within hours of the killing the riots started.

This is not just a black thing either, a couple of Indian students have gotten stabbed in Australia recently and the Indian community took to the streets and made themselves heard.

As usual, nothing from the Chinese. It is this lack of response, lack of retaliation of injustices made against us, that allows things like this to continue and grow. If you do not fight it, expect it to get worse.

Incidentally I wonder what it would take for the Chinese to actually give a damn about the state of things regarding their people? Something like 13 May, 1998 in Indonesia perhaps (google it)? Where thousands of Chinese women were gang raped, the Chinese men made to watch before being beheaded and their kids raped and slaughtered?

Oh wait, the Chinese there (most of whom were born there, but that didn't stop the Indonesians of other races in thinking otherwise - just like in Britain) did fuck all in retaliation. And thus the anti-Chinese resentment and maltreatment continues, as it will here.

    1. There are a number of differing issues here. Chinese is just an umbrella wrapper, we are factional in reality. Even the FOBs are not a whole. The student was a mainland FOB, therefore mainland newspapers covered this story. FOB students will also feel a little empathy, but FOBs do not post nor read BBC blogs. However, if he was not a mainland FOB Chinese, the mainland press would not even bother to cover the story because he would be considered one of 'ours.' It is also true of the HK vs China FOBs, they dont really mix. BBC's have taken a complete apathetic silent view on this subject as the victim is not a BBC.

BBC's are very self-orienated and lack a collective unity as they were brought up/raised in isolation from other BBC's and do not know how to relate nor empathise with other BBC/Chinese outside of the confines of the take-away/family bubble, outside the bubble their social circles are pretty much white/indian/black etc, in other words they've assimilated, they have the same mindset as a white person, they do not look at Britain under an ethnic Chinese context.

Lets face it, the only reason the non-Chinese Brit's take an interest in this issue is because they're anti-police, not because they're pro-chinese. BBC's are neither anti-police nor pro-Chinese. This is a non-issue for them.

    2. 3 reported incidents this year - 1 beating, 1 murder, and an ongoing case of racial murder ( simon san). Nat Wei or someone responsible really needs to pull his thumb out of his arse and Chinese need to get our voice heard. Im getting a bit sick of reading these incidents and feeling too helpless to do anything about it because of our apathetic selfish community. How many more one- off incidents do we need?

As we all know in justifying their overpaid salaries Police are called out on alerts to chase fake terrorists and something like this happens as a by product of a false emergency is a shocking disgrace. And that the officer responsible still has his license. Sickening.

  4. Example why dimsum is out of touch with topical debates, yet it has "chinese" people in the public eye there "trying" to reach out the chinese community, and fails. I agree and don't agree everything said here but it gets its coverage and news right. Its a sad case anyone to pass away like this.

    1. Dimsum is a joke. If it really cared, it would use its clout as being the oldest Chinese community website to create action and as the first commentor said help to rally against this injustice and the others earlier this year.
But would it? Would it, f-ck.

Talk about demonising of Chinese as inhumane, this murderous act is western inhumanity staring at you in face. I await to see what the mainland papers have to say about this, and more importantly do something, if anything.

    2. what are the bbc facebook group saying about this incident, and the other two cases (sexual assault, physical assault) on here?

    3. Ive just checked.

re: these two cases , I dont think it was posted on facebook
re: this incident, nothing, only one comment from a FOB who is berating them, about not giving a shit about their ethnic Chinese roots, despite being British Born 'Chinese'.

      Even then, they dont respond.

Its as BBCz mentioned above, BBCS dont care about the police, BBCS dont give a shit about China, and even though some of those BBCS live in Birmingham, they wont even care comment on this incident.Only their own self important lives.

      Delete
    4. what do you mean they're not responding? Not even messages of condolence? Or just flat out denial of it happening, or shrugging off the case as "one of those things"? Other communities would be making quite a big fuss (that's an understatement) right about now.

It seems they are the extreme ones - in apathy and inhumanity.

  5. Reply to the drunk crime article from the facebook board:

Alan Ho So? Pricks everywhere in this cuntry. Just because the victims happen to be Chinese and too timid to stand up for themselves. Bullies will be bullies regardless of what race the victim is.

    1. Are you surprised or something? You should know that's the BBC view over and over by now, although its exaggerated as its Facebook. Facebook is like Dimsum + British Chinese online, i.e lost the plot, now only for social clowning and apathy, not for serious debate or discussion. Someone recently posted an article link to a Taiwanese girl that committed suicide live on FB and no one cared nor took her seriously, that's a good example of what FB has descended into.

  6. Guess im hoping that one day BBCs will take more of an interest in Chinese community beyond than their own selfish lives, lost the plot is right. R.I.P Xuanwei Zhang

  7. Anyone have an update on this? I'm betting the police were hoping the "attention" (quoted because our community hardly gave a shit, unlike Mark Duggan and the Indian man shot dead in Salford) would die down, and the suspended officer who killed one of our people back in work (wouldn't be surprised if he had a congratulations for killing one of us too).

I want to see this killer prosecuted and certainly sacked from his job, not get away with killing one of ours. Because this is how the Holocaust started... kill one, no punishment. Kill a group... nothing. J do not want to see my race ethnically cleansed in my own country.

  8. It is really a bad news that the car of police killed a student. Every one should have to be sincere at the time of driving. He may be a police or normal person.
